Volunteering

Make a real difference in the lives of children and families across South Wales by joining the ToyBox Project!

We offer a variety of ways to get involved, including in-house warehouse volunteering for adults aged 18+. All new volunteers receive a full induction, and relevant information is provided in our Volunteer Induction Pack to help you get started safely and confidently.

Warehouse Volunteering

Individuals or friends can help during our open sessions — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, or Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm. Tasks include checking games, puzzles, and battery-operated toys, sorting LEGO, and organising general donations. Please note the warehouse operates over two floors and does not have a lift.

Become A Volunteer

Volunteers can join our Facebook Volunteers Group once they have completed the onboarding process. Apply to be a volunteer here

Donate A Service

You can also support us in other ways by donating your skills. Whether it’s graphic design, waste management, electronics, or web design/hosting, etc we’d love to hear from you. Contact us via our contact page

Remote Volunteering

Collect games, puzzles, and battery-operated toys during a volunteering session and take them home to test. Return the toys to a different session once they are checked and ready. You can come and go as often as you like. This opportunity is available to individuals or companies we are familiar with. Remote volunteering also includes tasks that can be done from home or offsite and is available all year round.

Corporate Volunteering

Bring your team for a day of hands-on support at the warehouse.

Time Credits

Individual volunteers can earn Tempo Time Credits for the hours they contribute, whether helping in the warehouse or volunteering remotely. Time credits are not available for corporate volunteering, but they provide a great way for individuals to track and be recognised for their contribution.

What Our Volunteers Say

Liz and Dave

"Now that our children have left home, we wanted to spend some time doing something meaningful for the local community. We spent years watching our children grow, play, and learn, and we know how powerful toys can be in shaping childhood experiences. Volunteering with the Toy Box Project is a fabulous opportunity to help other families by testing pre-loved toys, ensuring they can bring joy to new homes. Through our workplaces, we’ve also helped organise corporate volunteer days and build connections with local schools to further support the initiative. Volunteering with the Toy Box Project has given us a chance to meet other volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who also care about the importance of play in childhood and helping families in need. All while keeping toys out of landfill and having a bit of fun along the way!"
